    Chairman, David Lacey

    David is a leading researcher, writer and innovator in Cyber Security and IT Governance, with more than 25 years’ experience directing IT Security and Governance for Shell, Royal Mail, and the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, among others.

    He has been described by Cisco Systems as the “Father of Zero Trust” after the term was coined based upon work David presented at the 2004 Jerichpo Forum.

    David has advised numerous banks, energy companies, government ministries, research centres, technology vendors, and start-up companies in cyber security. He is a visiting senior research fellow of the University of Portsmouth and a member of the InfoSec Europe Hall of Fame.

    David joins the ZT SIG Advisory Board as our Founding Chairperson.

  • Professor Bill Buchanan OBE

    Professor Bill Buchanan OBE

    Bill is a Professor in the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University where he founded the world leading Blockpass ID Lab. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed research papers, several high-impact patents, alongside more than 30 academic textbooks.

    His work has had significant impact on the UK cybersecurity ecosystem, including four highly successful spin-out companies (Zonefox, Symphonic Software, Cyan Forensics and MemCrypt), bringing numerous awards for excellence in knowledge transfer, and teaching.

    Bill lives and works in Edinburgh, a firm believer in fairness, justice, and freedom. He has a deep passion for everything related to cryptography, digital trust and digital identity, and in building a more trusted, secure and resilient digital world, and with a focus on the rights of citizens to privacy.

  • Esteemed information Technologist Edmund Sutcliffe

    Edmund J. Sutcliffe

    Edmund brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our IAB. Throughout his incredible career, he has been at the forefront of ground-breaking information technology advancements. In the early eighties, he played a pivotal role in spearheading the adoption of single sign-on and resource-based access controls across the UK Academic Research Network for the UCNW Bangor and University of York, setting the stage for enhanced security practices.

    With his tenure as an engineer at Netscape, IPlanet, Sun Microsystems and his leadership of teams across a range of prominent IT projects such as the Oyster Card system and Sky TV set-top box network, Edmund has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to innovation and deep cybersecurity expertise.

    As Chief Technology Officer at NCC Group, Sian is responsible for intelligence, insight, and innovation within the company.

    Sian has been a recognised leader in UK Cybersecurity for over 25 years across strategy, business risk, privacy, and technology and was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2018 New Year’s Honours List for services to Cybersecurity.

    She is a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Information Security, Chair of the techUK Cybersecurity committee, and a council member for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Council (EPSRC).
