Professor Bill Buchanan OBE joins advisory board of new cybersecurity Special Interest Group.

Continuing our Advisory Board appointments from the recent announcement of David Lacey as our founding Chairperson. I am delighted to share that Professor Bill Buchannan OBE will be joining David on the Zero Trust SIG Advisory Board.

Bill is a Professor in the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University where he founded the world leading Blockpass ID Lab. He is also a Fellow of the British Computer Society and Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Authority. Having published over 400 peer-reviewed research papers, several high-impact patents, alongside more than 30 academic textbooks.

His work has has had a significant impact on the UK cybersecurity ecosystem, including four highly successful spin-out companies (Zonefox, Symphonic Software, Cyan Forensics and MemCrypt), bringing numerous awards for excellence in knowledge transfer, and teaching.

Bill lives and works in Edinburgh, a firm believer in fairness, justice, and freedom. His social media tagline reflects this strong belief in changing the world for the better: "A Serial Innovator. An Old World Breaker. A New World Creator." He has a deep passion for everything related to cryptography, digital trust and digital identity, and in building a more trusted, secure and resilient digital world, and with a focus on the rights of citizens to privacy.

The Zero Trust SIG is extremely proud to have Bill, horizon-scanning for the ZT SIG, judging content submissions and liaising with academia on our behalf.
